Programme of events 2020

Welcome to our web-site. 

We are a group of like minded stitchers of all levels living in and around Bournemouth, Dorset; who are interested in all types of textile work; hand stitching, machine stitching and beyond.

We normaly (see April) meet at:- West Parley Memorial Hall on the 4th Friday of each Month (not necessarily the last Friday!!). Between 09.30am and 3 pm.

We are always very pleased to showcase the high standards and talents of Guild members. If you would like to take a workshop, for our branch, please speak to one of the committee members.



                                                      Needs list for February 2020

28th Feb - Wendy Hermeline - Playing with Stripes


  • Several different pieces of fabric that work well together colour-wise - fat quarters or half metre lengths
  • Cotton, silk, satin, linen, velvet (bit harder to work with) plain, space-dyed, prints or a mix of these - nothing too thick
  • Bright colours or contrasts or muted and harmonious or various shades of one colour
  • ½ metre of calico
  • ½ metre lightweight iron-on Vilene stabiliser (optional)
  • Working sewing machine with all attachments and instruction book
  • Twin needle 2mm or 2.5mm width
  • Pin tucking foot if you have one (the foot has several grooves underneath which prevent the pin tucks being flattened)
  • Machine threads to tone with or contrast your materials
  • Metallic thread for sparkle if you wish
  • Sewing kit with sharp pair of scissors
  • Notebook/sketch book
  • Pen, pencil
  • Beads, sequins, to embellish the fabric (if time, so optional)
  • Hand sewing kit

The fabric we make can be used for making a bag, needle-case, cushion or some other wonderful thing!
